What is the surface of Bright Annealing?

The bright annealing surface process for stainless steel tubes is a very critical and specialised heat treatment process, usually used to improve the microstructure and surface quality of stainless steel tubes. The process consists of the following key steps:
Heating - Stainless steel tubes are heated in a specific atmosphere to a temperature range that is high enough to allow recrystallisation, but not so high as to cause grain coarsening.
Holding - After reaching a predetermined temperature, the pipe is held at that temperature for a period of time to ensure that the temperature within the material is uniform and that the grains are sufficiently recrystallised.
Cooling - Annealed stainless steel tubes need to be cooled slowly in a specific atmosphere. Rapid cooling may cause stresses to occur in the material and affect its properties.
Bright annealing is characterised by a non-oxidising atmosphere (e.g. hydrogen or inert gas), which avoids oxidation of the stainless steel surface and maintains the metal's natural colour and lustre. This treatment results in a smooth surface of the stainless steel tube, reducing the need for subsequent polishing.
